The plants can remain in the box for up to 48 hours after delivery. Giving it as a gift? Then select your preferred delivery date in the shopping cart, or unpack the plants upon arrival and give them some water, daylight, and a bit of love.
You will receive the product as shown in the product photo with a white background. The other photos are for inspiration, atmosphere, and examples.
After Christmas, you can reuse the terrarium by removing the festive decorations or refreshing it with a terrarium refill set.
Because these are seasonal products, the contents may differ slightly from the photo. We always ensure a fitting and atmospheric substitute.
Plants such as Aloe Humilis and Picea are not typical terrarium plants and will not stay beautiful as long in a closed terrarium compared to plants specifically suited for it.
The terrarium does not include a cork. Our limited Christmas editions are offered without a cork because the decorative elements are not designed for a closed terrarium. Therefore, make sure to always keep the plants and moss inside the terrarium moist.

The Calathea Makoyana terrarium plant needs little light. Place the Calathea in a spot with (semi) shade without direct sunlight. Too much sunlight is harmful to the plant and will lead to brown edges on the leaves.The Calathea requires high humidity and is therefore very suitable as a terrarium plant.

This white gravel forms the drainage layer at the bottom of your terrarium. It catches excess water so your plants do not get wet roots. The bright colour shows clearly through the glass and gives your terrarium a clean base.Why use drainage gravelA drainage layer keeps water away from the roots. When you water your terrarium or when condensation drips down, the water collects in the gravel instead of sitting around the soil. This prevents root rot and keeps your plants healthy inside a closed jar.The white colour stands out nicely against the dark soil and green moss layers above it. You see the layers through the glass, which adds visual depth to your terrarium.How to use itPour a layer of 2 to 4 cm of white gravel at the bottom of your glass jar before you add soil. The exact thickness depends on the height of your container. Taller jars can take a thicker drainage layer. Spread the gravel evenly so water can flow across the entire base.After the gravel, add a thin layer of activated charcoal to keep the water fresh, then your potting soil on top.
