Our plants and interior objects travel across Europe to find their new loving home. Cold winter weather requires extra attention. In this blog, we explain how we handle shipping during colder periods and give you practical tips to ensure your new green friend gets the best possible start.
How we ensure a comfortable journey for your plants in winter
Throughout the entire year, our plants receive all our love, care, and attention. However, winter temperatures call for additional precautions. As soon as the temperature approaches freezing, plants become much more sensitive to the cold, and damage can occur more quickly. That’s why we keep a close eye on weather forecasts and adjust our shipping conditions whenever necessary.
Adding a heatpack - warm & cosy
A heatpack releases gentle warmth and protects plants from the cold during transport. When the weather is getting colder we always add a heatpack of 48 hours or 72 hours. It’s a simple and effective way to prevent damage, especially when shipping with frost or cold temperatures.
When should you add a heat pack?
As soon as daytime temperatures drop close to freezing, we strongly recommend adding a heat pack to your order to keep your plants protected throughout their journey. Plants are delicate and need a little extra love and care during transport. When you add a heat pack to your order, we will pack your plants warmly and make sure they arrive in the best possible condition.
urbanjngl tip: Is it cold and close to freezing? Add a 72-hour heat pack to your order for extra protection.
How to add a heat pack to your order
Adding a heat pack is super easy. All you need to do is add the heatpack to your shopping cart. The heat pack costs € 1,95 and if you have a large package, we’ll include additional heat packs for free!
How long does a heat pack stay warm?
Our heat pack stays warm from 48 hours to 72 hours. This ensures your plants stay nice, warm, and comfortable throughout the entire journey to their new home.
When do we temporarily pause shipping?
Only in the rare case of extremely cold winter conditions in Europe will we temporarily stop shipping. We continuously monitor the weather forecasts for all destination addresses. If temperatures are too low to transport plants and plant products safely and in a healthy condition, we will take action. We fully understand that waiting longer isn’t ideal, but during this time, we make sure your order stays warm and cosy with us until it can be shipped safely.
