Let them choose. Instead of picking one kit for everyone, send a gift card or a link to a small selection of kits and let each employee or client pick their own size and style. This avoids the mismatch of sending a large statement terrarium to someone with a small desk, or a mini kit to someone who wanted the centrepiece version, and it still arrives with the same personalised cork if you want one on every kit regardless of which size gets chosen.

Personalising the cork lid

For a whole team or a client list, ordering as a set is usually cheaper and easier to plan around one delivery date. As a rough guide: a mini kit around 19 to 20 cm suits a desk or a small gift budget, a 23 to 25 cm kit is the size most people end up happiest with, and anything from 28 cm up reads as a genuine centrepiece rather than a token gift. If you are ordering a mixed batch for a client list with a range of budgets, it is worth picking two sizes rather than one so the smaller gift does not feel like an afterthought next to the larger one.

Ordering deadlines across Europe

If you are shipping to more than one country, the date that matters is not always 25 December.

The Netherlands and Belgium put most of the gift-giving weight on Sinterklaas, 5 December, with Christmas itself spread over two days on 25 and 26 December.

Germany and Austria open presents on Heiligabend, the evening of 24 December. Nikolaus on 6 December is a separate, smaller gift moment, often used for a lighter client touch earlier in the month.

The UK and Ireland open on Christmas morning, with Boxing Day on 26 December.

Work backwards from the earliest date on your list, not the latest. If part of your client list is in the Netherlands and part in Germany, plan for 5 December, not 24 December. Add a few working days on top of the delivery estimate for personalisation, since an engraved cork is made to order and not picked from stock. Cold-weather shipping also needs a heat pack on live plants once nightly temperatures are near freezing, which we add automatically once the forecast calls for it. December courier volumes are the highest of the year, so ordering in the first half of November for a large batch, and no later than the last week of November for a smaller one, is the safer plan.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should we order for a company-wide gift?
For anything over roughly 25 pieces with a personalised cork on each, order in the first half of November. That lines up with our usual cut-off of placing orders above 25 personalised terrariums before 1 December. Smaller orders have more flexibility, but early December is cutting it close once personalisation and courier volumes are factored in.

Can every kit in an order get a different name on the cork?
Yes. Each cork is engraved individually, so a batch order can carry a different name, initials or short message per person rather than one design repeated across the whole set.

Do you need vector artwork for a logo, or does a normal logo file work?
A clean logo file, ideally with a transparent background, is enough. Very fine detail or thin gradients do not translate well to a laser engraving, so a simplified version of a logo usually engraves more clearly than the full-colour version.

Can we mix ready-made and DIY kits in the same order?
Yes, and it is a common way to handle a client list plus an internal team gift in one order: ready-made for clients, DIY kits for the team event.

What happens if an employee or client is based outside the Netherlands, Germany or Belgium?
We ship across Europe. The only thing that changes is the deadline you should work back from, since the relevant gift-giving date is different in each country.

Does the plant need much care after the holidays?
No. A closed terrarium recycles its own moisture and typically only needs watering a few times a year, which is part of why it holds up as an office gift better than cut flowers or a bouquet.

Can we see a sample before committing to a full batch?
