Spathiphyllum Spoonplant
The Spathiphyllum is also known in the Netherlands as the spoon or vane plant because the flowers have the shape of a spoon. It originates from South America and belongs to the genus Aracaea (the areca palm). The Spathiphyllum was introduced to Europe in 1870.
The erect white flowers are characteristic of this plant. The flowers of the Spathiphyllum are always white and often protrude above the plant, which attracts extra attention. The bigger the plant, the bigger the flowers.
A Spathiphyllum can bloom several times a year if it is cared for properly. The flowering period lasts up to about 10 weeks each time, making it an exceptionally long bloomer!
The most important aspect of the Spathiphyllum is that it is an air-purifying plant. It removes harmful substances from the air and gives oxygen in return! This property also helps against snoring.
Areca Gold Palm
- The Areca palm has many names, such as Areka Palm, Dypsis, Gold Fruit Palm but most known to us as the Gold Palm.
- The Areca originates from the humid tropics of Madagascar, but this plant has now conquered almost all tropical areas.
- The palm is very good at tolerating polluted air and is therefore common in office-type work environments.
- The palm filters the polluting particles from the air that is inhaled by the leaves and therefore has an air-purifying effect.
- The Areca palm is one of the best palms to have in the house, it not only filters many toxic substances from the air, but also looks beautiful.
